Think tanks have a very important role in the world, in UN and in UNDP. They are the ones in the best position to have a dialogue in terms of public policies and changes in public policies. CCG, given its interest in international affairs and globalization, they really are in the middle of this current debate on where globalization goes in the future and how do we need to adjust in terms of public policies to make sure it’s inclusive and sustainable. For UNDP, we need strong partners in China and international think tanks like CCG in order to have these discussions.
I warmly congratulate CCG on its tenth anniversary. This is a milestone in evolution and development. This milestone is in wonderfully important time reflecting the importance of CCG and the foundation it has laid for the future.
Congratulations to CCG on its tenth anniversary. CCG is perhaps the most influential think tank in China. CCG is very well-known in Washington D.C. At all of our most important think tanks, they make presentations, give new ideas and they help to improve China-US relations. Because there are so many misperceptions, so “CCG 减少误会，增加信任，这就是为什么CCG这么重要”, and that’s why I admire CCG so much.
I want to congratulate CCG on their ten-year anniversary, on their existence. CCG represents a new type of think tank in China and its existence opens up for many cooperation of think tanks in the United States and other countries around the world. I think it is a great step forward for international cooperation and should enable us to really understand the increased cooperation among Chinese people and Americans.
2008, I believe, when you settled this down, was a watershed in the history of the world. China is coming to a key position in global leadership. Based on globalization and implications for all the world, I congratulate you on the way you have used the moment when globalization is preceding China’s role as rising to set an agenda both for China and its relationship with the world. Your network is outstanding. Your sense of the United States is subtle and your proposals have been rewarding. All best wishes for the coming 10 years and beyond.
Congratulations to CCG. In ten years you have done so much. This is a time of US and China relation being renewed every day on both sides. Regrettably, it’s almost always negative. That’s why we need voices that are calm, reason, based on facts. CCG has established itself as a reputable source of information and reasonable source of opinion. It has become renowned. CCG ideas have been implemented and there are so many who have ideas, who wish to see the papers produced, backed by data, go from academic presentation to actual policy. That’s a marvelous success of a think tank. CCG has become the leading independent Chinese think tank. Congratulations to CCG on its ten years. I’m sure there will be ten times ten years more of wonderful touch.
It’s a great honor to be able to partner with and participate in this important forum here in China. The partnership with CCG has been very productive and fruitful not only for both our organizations but also for China- US relations and for global think tank community. I would like to offer some advice to think tanks in China. One which I have said repeatedly for many years is that there should be greater diversity and a thousand think tanks should be allowed to boom in China. Secondly, there should be increasing accessibility to websites.
Now I have attended a number of events organized by CCG in different places around China. I think these events have been very valuable. By bringing together people from think tanks and research institutes not only around China, but also from other places in the world, CCG provides a platform for the exchange of views. As it is CCG’s tenth anniversary, I would really like to congratulate Professor Wang and all the colleagues at CCG for the work they have done in the past 10 years in raising the profile of think tanks in China and importance of engaging with all think tanks around the world.
