CGTN | China’s first private Research University
Construction has started on China’s first private Research University, which will be located in the eastern city of Hangzhou. The Westlake University will start with doctoral education, and focused on promoting talents in the advanced science and technology research.
Shi Yigong, the former vice president of Tsinghua University, was appointed the first president of Westlake University. Nobel-winning Physicist Chen Ning Yang was named the honorary chairman of the board.
China 24 Studio invited Wang Huiyao, the president of Center for China and Globalization (CCG), to take a close look at China’s first research-oriented private university and share his opinions.
